Leather Love

I had to (yes, had to) do some after Christmas shopping and naturally had to (yes, had to) wear as many things as I possibly could that were Christmas gifts. I actually think it's a rule that following Christmas you must look like your Christmas presents threw up all over you. After I have done Christmas with my mom, brother and sister we get together with the rest of my family and my aunt says every year "So, what are you wearing that's new, show me!" Is there anything better than new Christmas & back to school clothes?

Everything I am wearing, aside from the leggings, my mom got me either this or last. She knows me so well & I always love not telling her too many ideas for gifts, because she always gets way better stuff than I'd suggest to her. Take for example this super fitted, cream, leather motorcycle jacket. I die. This is definitely a jacket I'd see and lust over, but never buy myself. I love it & see it getting a lot of face time on this blog of mine. The top is everything I look for in a top, it's chiffon (my favorite material to wear) long enough to cover my rear in leggings, and black with a little something something extra in the blue pop at the bottom. This bag. Oh, there are no words! Michael Kors knows his bags. I'm such a huge fan of his handbags because I love the hardware on them. This one can be worn three ways, with the smaller handles in the crook of your arms, with the long strap as a shoulder bag, or cross body. The leather is so incredibly soft and buttery, I'm just in love with everything about it! I'm not sure of the exact name of the bag, I will try to find that out and add it for you.

Mad for Plaid

And just like that, Christmas has come and gone! I hope you all had as wonderful of a Christmas as I did.  Christmas Eve was spent at my mom's house with her and my aunt.  We went to a candle light service at church & just had a great night laughing until past 1 a.m. On Christmas Day, my whole family came over to my mom's; we ate ourselves silly and played one of my favorite games, Catch Phrase, and naturally the girls won. It was really a great day & made me even more thankful for the family I was blessed with.

Last Saturday night however, I ventured to one of my favorite areas in Charlotte, Noda, to watch an awesome musician, Erick  Baker.  I love Noda so much, its hippy vibe and eclectic bars and stores are right up my alley. I had never heard of Erick before, and if you haven't either, I highly suggest you take a listen. He has played with artists such as the Goo Goo Dolls (love!), Gavin DeGraw, James Blunt, Edwin McCain, and Grace Potter. His voice is incredible and he plays a mean guitar.  The venue was really small and intimate, a girl from the audience apparently tweeted him earlier asking to sing with him and he let her come up for two songs, so cool! We were having a particularly warm Winter night last Saturday, but I still wanted to look seasonally appropriate, so I "winterized" my black romper by adding tights and my new favorite plaid shirt. Let me know what you think!

Black on Black on Black

Black is easily my favorite color, that and leopard.  The fact that neither black nor leopard are technically colors yet I deem them my favorites has to scream something about my personality. Anyway, moving on.  I wore this outfit to a Christmas party this past Friday, it was super comfortable, yet looked like I put a lot more time into it than I actually did. When feeling lazy, in doubt, head to toe black always looks good.

Stocking Stuffers

I'm back today with the final part of my Holiday Gift Guide, today it's all about stocking stuffers! You can find my previous posts in this series herehere, and here. I don't know about you, but I love stockings, they're full to fill & fun to open! While I chose to include the following as stocking stuffers, I also think they'd make great gifts on their own. I hope this gift guide series was helpful to you, as it was a lot of fun to make!

1. CLEAN Rollerball Set : I love rollerball perfumes, put on in a gym bag, in your car, in your purse; they fit virtually anywhere. These scents are all, you guessed it, very clean & musky smelling.  They aren't super heavy, sweet or citrusy.  I think scents like this tend to be pretty universal, and something any woman can enjoy.

2. Running socks : These socks are so comfy due to the snug fit band around the center. These are a gift I plan on giving someone myself.

3. Kiehl's shave cream : I really like the Kiehl's brand.  It's a luxurious brand without being too expensive.  Since this isn't as readily available as a shaving cream from the drugstore is, it isn't as likely someone would but it for themselves, but it's a nice little treat to receive.

4. The North Face beanie : snug fitting beanie with a super soft microfiber inside lining, make this the perfect companion for those cold outdoor runs.

5. eBooks : I received an eBook last year for Christmas and thought it was the coolest gift. My mom found a book she thought I'd enjoy, bought it and gave me a card with a code to download it.  This is a book on my reading list, but you can tailor this gift to anyone with an eReader based on their interests, and there are tons of great books for well under $10. (The link is to this book at Barnes & Noble for Nook readers, but you can search any book and it will give you the option to 'buy as gift' or you can buy it as a gift in stores.  Amazon has a similar option for Kindle readers here )

6. Essie Holiday 2013 Set : Essie is my favorite nail polish brand, so naturally I had to include their holiday set for this year.  If you have a few different people to give gifts to, you could even break this set up and give a polish to multiple people.

7. Chocolate Bar Set : And because I believe no stocking is complete without chocolate, I have added the Crate and Barrel 5-Piece Chocolate Bar Gift Set. And surprisingly to me, Crate and Barrel has good chocolate!

Gifts for Him

I'm back today with another installment in my gift guide series.  You can see my previous posts here and here . This time, I am bringing you gifts for the man in your life.  Be it a brother, boyfriend, or anyone else, I think these would make great gifts for the guys in your lives. Enjoy!

1. earTunes beanie : This gift is so universal; It's really a great gift for both guys & girls to be honest. It would be perfect for an outdoor workout during the colder months or for taking with you on a flight, and at only $5, you really can't beat it.
2. ultra sleek bamboo tie and belt rack : I absolutely love this tie & belt rack, it's so sleek and stylist but manly at the same time.
3. Mophie iPhone juicepack : Another gift that could be for both guys & girls.  This phone case charges your phone while protecting it.  Keep it in your car, desk at work, gym bag or wherever you may need a little extra battery life.
4. Nixon Mod watch : The simplicity of this watch & the black coloring make it such a versatile piece. This could easily be worn having beers with the guys or dressed up to a nice dinner.
5. hopside down beer glasses : Speaking of beers, these quirky beer glasses are great! They're double-walled so your beer stay cold and your hands stay warm.
6. Elemis shave oil : I'm a big fan of face oils in general, they're gentle on your skin, but really moisturizing at the same time.  This is a preshave oil that softens the skin and protects it for a clean shave. Gifts like this are some of my favorite to give because they're a little luxury you might not buy for yourself, but are a lot of fun to receive.
7. leather laptop messenger bag : I love this bag so much! It is just the right mix of professional and casual. An extra added touch would be to have the recipients initials put on the bag.

I hope these helped spark some ideas, guys can be just so hard to shop for sometimes! What are your suggestions for gifts to give the men in our lives?

NOTD

Essie is definitely my favorite nail polish brand.  I love cream finishes in nail polish & there just isn't any brand who has more options or does them as nicely as Essie does, in my opinion.  With that being said, I do still cringe every time I dish out over $8 on a nail polish, so I'm always looking for cheaper alternatives. I think the Wet n' Wild brand as a whole is really fantastic, especially for the price & their Megalast nail polish line is no exception! My all time favorite Winter nail polish is from their Megalast line, called Haze of Love.  Haze of Love is a deep "oxblood" (I am so over that description), burgundy red, cream polish. The formulation is absolute perfection; it's thick enough to give complete streak-free opacity in two coats, but isn't goopy.  I used Poshe Top Coat, which I picked up from Ulta for around $6.  I like that it's thicker and and gives a slight gel like effect, but I still prefer the combination of my Revlon Extra Life No Chip Top Coat with my Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat, those two are a dream team!

2 coats, in bathroom lighting.

Again, 2 coats in bathroom lighting. The color is a tad darker in person than it is showing here.

As I mentioned above, I really like my Revlon base/top coat combination, they work really well for me, but I'm always looking for ways to waste my money other great options, if you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them!

Gifts for Her

Today is all about the ladies! This is the second installment in my Holiday Gift Guide, you can see my wishlist here . I hope these suggestions lend some ideas your way! What do you think of these? Let me know what you plan on giving this year.

1. cozy hooded cardigan : Dress it up, dress it down, anything goes. This cardigan would look (and feel) equally as fabulous paired with skinny jeans wedges as it would thrown on over a tank with some leggings for running errands.

2. leather buckle iPad case : Seriously chic way to carry around your iPad, it looks like an oversized clutch and those are always okay by me.

3. recipe binder : This is the perfect solution for all of those Pinterest recipes you print off and want to save. The inside is broken up into 7 sections: breakfast, lunch, dinner, starters, salads, sweets, & family recipes. It also comes with clear sheet protectors so your recipes stay nice and neat.

4. iPhone case & wallet : Cute enough to take alone as a mini clutch for a night out, but sleek enough to toss in your bag without adding bulk. The inside has compartments for your iPhone, credit cards & cash.

5. Kate Spade glitter watch : Glitter is right up there with leopard print for me; I love it. This watch adds the perfect amount of glam to your outfit, but the simple face keeps it from being too flashy.

6. cheerful running shoes : These shoes would almost make me happy to run. Almost. They're the sassiest pair of shoes I've ever seen and Asics as a brand are wonderful quality.

7. super rich body butter : The smell of this body butter is fantastic; it has a clean citrus scent that isn't too overpowering.  The thick consistency is really moisturizing, but doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy.

8. luxe faux fur blanket : This blanket just screams Winter to me.  I'd love to curl up with this, some hot chocolate & a good book.

Christmas Wishlist

I cannot believe Christmas is less than three weeks away.  I always feel like the years go by faster and faster, but this one really flew by! I thought I'd do a Holiday Gift Guide series where I share with you some of my ideas for Christmas gifts. The first in the series is my own  Christmas Wishlist.  I love snooping at what others have on their list, so I'm sharing mine with you all.  Stay tuned for Gifts for Her, Gifts for Him and Stocking Stuffers under $20!

1. Silicone Kate Spade iPhone case : Is there anyone who does sparkle better than Kate Spade? Confession: I haven't always been the biggest Kate Spade fan, I always felt like her stuff was just a LOT of color & wording. Over the past year or so, I've really been loving her stuff though & this phone case is a great reminder of what we should all be!
2. brown knee high boot socks : I am obsessed with knee high socks, I'd wear them every day if i could.  I especially love them with riding boots or booties. I wear them alone, over leggings, jeggings and tights. They a really simple & inexpensive way to give your outfit something special
3. Kate Spade tortoise sunglasses : Do you seen what I mean about liking her a lot recently? These glasses are so perfect, they're slightly retro with the subtle cat eye, but the tortoise shell color makes the extremely current.
4. black leather looking leggings : If I could only wear one type of bottoms for the rest of forever, it would be black leggings. They're comfortable, but can easily be dressed up or dressed down, and these leather looking leggings are no exception.
5. silver hammered serving bowls : I own exactly one serving bowl and I actually think it's a mixing bowl, because it's pretty large. These bowls are so chic I'd want to leave them out as decoration as well!
6. fashion photography print : I'm not very knowledgeable about art, I just know when I see something I like, and this I like. If you can't tell already I love me some neutral colors, so my living room would make a nice home for this black and white print.

What are some things on your wishlist this year?
